Honors Credit Course Contract

Welcome

The Honors College at Winthrop University provides honors students with the opportunity to enhance the value of their coursework by working closely with their professors to develop activities that explore course material at a deeper level. Through an honors contract with the instructor and Honors College, students can earn honors credit for this enhanced work. This contract documents the specific activities, performance expectations, and assessment methods that have been mutually agreed upon by the student and instructor.

Completing this form initiates the honors contract process. The activities you propose should be developed in collaboration with your instructor and must demonstrate advanced engagement with course material, independent thinking, and a commitment to scholarly excellence.

Terms of the Contract

Before submitting your contract for approval, you must agree to the following terms.

14. To receive Honors credit, the student must satisfactorily complete all work described in this agreement. *

15. Honors credit requires a grade of B or better in this course. *

16. We strongly discourage using an S/U for honors coursework. If you do elect to S/U this course, please note that an S requires a grade of B. The grade of U is awarded for a B- or below. *

17. You have one week from the agreement date (when all approvals are received) to rescind this contract. Honors contracts are non-reversible after this grace period. *

18. If you fail to meet the requirements outlined in this agreement, the highest grade you can earn in this course is a B-. *
